Vijay Awards 2008-Univercell

Enchanting the annual Vijay awards called Univercell Vijay Awards 2008 had been celebrated on June 13th 2009 at Nehru Stadium in Chennai. This award had been organized by Vijay TV and sponsored by Univercell.

A Vehicle had been especially prearranged in the name of “Rasigan Express” that traveled across varies cities in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. More variety of Category awards were chosen by Vijay TV viewers.

The judges for the awards were Yuhi Sethu, Prathap Pothen, Madan and Lizzy Priyadarshan.

Actor Kamal Hasan was awarded the best Comedian actor for the Dasavatharam. He dedicated the award to Nagesh and Vivek. Actor Suriya was awarded as the best actor for the film Vaaranam Ayirum and Actress Nayanthara for the film Yaaradi Nee Mohini. Vaaranam Ayirum got three awards for categories such as Favourite film, Favourite director that went to Gautam Vasudev Menon. Simran won the best supporting actor for the film Vaaranam ayirum. Harris Jayaraj won the Whirlpool Best Music Director award and Singer Hariharan the best singer for the film Vaaranam Ayirum .

Best Find of the year award was grabbed by the Subramaniyapuram. Oscar Winner A.R.Rahman was also awarded as the best music composer of year 2008.

Yuhi sethu had informed that more than 118 films were released during the year 2008 and about 32 awards have been given. A Sathyam cinema was awarded the best contribution award to the Tamil in the year 2008.

Airtel Super Singer 2008 Winner – Ajesh

Congrats Ajesh for winning the 1st prize, Ravi 2nd and Renu for 3rd prize.

Ajesh gets a chance to sing in Yuvan Shankar music production.

Chitra gave prize cash award of Rs. 2,00,000 to Ravi.

Renu got Rs.50,000.

ARRahman Bags 2 Oscar Awards

This is great news for Chennai, Tamilnadu, South India, Asia and to everyone one of us – ARRahman bags 2 Oscar awards: 1. For Original Music Score 2. For Original Song Jai Ho from the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Chennai FM is proud and congrats the one and only ARRahman.

Before coming I was excited and terrified, the last time I felt like that during my marriage (laughs)

there is this dialogue from my hindi film called meri pass maa hein..which means
i have nothing but i have my mother, my mother is here, her blessings are there with me.I am grateful for her to come here all the way.

I want to thank the academy for being so kind, all the judy members. I want to thank all the crew of slumdog, gulzar, musicians from Chennai and Mumbai and I want to say something in Tamil, which i normally say at every award Elaa Pugazhum Iraivanukey – God is great
